THE ANTI-HUNGER FOUNDATion FOR NIGER DELTA
We are implementing grassroots solutions to the hunger crisis in Nigeria by erecting programs that ensure the most vulnerable in communities across the Niger Delta have food to eat.
It’s really that simple.
40% of Nigerians live below the poverty line which means that over 82 million people in Nigeria live on less than $1 a day. For at-risk persons, this essential means going hungry for days at a time.
Aside from severe malnutrition that leads to numerous health issues, hunger is also the leading cause of criminality and trauma in childhood.
Our goal is to feed 2500 at-risk families monthly – essentially, to provide food relief to members of our communities who need it the most.
1. COMMUNITY FOOD AID PROGRAM
Our community food aid program is a monthly food distribution exercise to the community’s most vulnerable and most at-risk; the elderly, the disabled, orphans, widows, and other vulnerable persons. On a monthly basis, we distribute relief packages with staple food items such as rice, beans, garri, iodized salt, pepper, and groundnut oil to already identified vulnerable persons and most at-risk individuals, one community at a time — across the Niger Delta.
TO PREPARE FOR THIS,
We have engaged coordinators and volunteers in this community who have helped us identify the community’s most vulnerable and most at-risk women. These local program coordinators and volunteers will also work with us to carry out and oversee the food distribution. We are working with a trusted local grocer who will purchase quality foodstuff and prepare the relief packages for distribution.
WHAT WE NEED to feed up to 100 at-risk persons/FAMILIES EVERY MONTH IS $2000.00 TO COVER THE PROCUREMENT OF:
300+kg of rice
150+ kg of beans
300+ kg of Garri
Condiments (iodized salt, dried pepper, thyme, groundnut oil)
Stipends for on-ground Program coordinators
Additional Logistics (e.g. storage rental, packaging materials, and transportation
WILL YOU HELP US RAISE $2000 TO PROCURE THE FOOD ITEMS WE NEED TO FEED 100 At-RISK FAMILIES THIS MONTH?

We are not funded by the government. We are powered by everyday Nigerians from advisors, co-conveners, on-ground coordinators, vendors, and volunteers. We pride ourselves on being grassroots. We value honesty, transparency, accountability, and being data-driven to ensure our limited funds reach those who need it the most.
Our vision is to construct a community-based, opportunity-driven infrastructure by recruiting and hiring local residents in LGAs across the Niger Delta where our programs are being implemented; volunteers, coordinators, food distributors, farmers, grocers, artisans — All are offered an opportunity to work together in implementing our community food aid program and in participating in an ecosystem for sustainability, support, and development.
